Barbara there is lots of info on LP here on YT. I would do just as your vet suggested and not worry for now. Ruby was diagnosed with slight LP four years ago, and so far other than an occasional skip step (I'll notice one every few months) has no problems.
I wouldn't let Sophie jump from furniture or steps. Did your vet discuss any joint supplements? Chances are she may never need surgery.
