Oh my goodness! Sounds like he was a bit constipated then? Hopefully his appetite will increase/return now that there's space for more food to go. Sometimes I give mine green beans or canned pumpkin to help keep them more 'regular'.
Just keep a very close eye on that mucous... if it turns white or cloudy it means pneumonia may have set in and he would need special treatment, like nebulization with antibiotics to get the meds directly into the lungs, and a change in the oral antibiotics. If there's a lot of mucous... this can make them not eat... bc they cannot smell their food... sometimes heating it up can help.... I'd also keep the Nutrical on hand until he's eating more normally. It really shouldn't hurt to give him a small amount of chicken occassionally, especially if it helps him to eat more.
