My schnauzer was crate trained..she was about 20 pounds, worked great for her. Levi my yorkie never liked the crate, so I didn't really bother much to try it with Lily. I think it is a matter a personal preference. The crate worked well with one of my dogs and not so well with the other. I think the trainer needs to respect your wishes. Just my opinion.
