The pain meds made Kaji hyper, so he was bouncing off the walls, howling, barking, and growling at shadows. It was stressful! I'm sure his was not a typical reaction to the take home pain meds. He did ok though, even with all the jumping around he did. Try your best and keep an eye on his stitches. The only other thing I can think of is to put him in a crate. He'd have no other choice than to settle down.
Oh, and I too did a lot of carrying Kaji around. I knew he wouldn't sit still so I just carried him from place to place.
