I am assuming that he was put down due to a head injury and skin issue. According to the OP. It took my breath away to read that he was PTS. especially after their were many suggestions of rescue groups in the area.
Makes me sad and angry that the easiest way out was taken. I could not live with myself if I chose to PTS any of my dogs without using any and all options out there.
