Vitality Chicken Breast Treats made dogs sick I have 2 Yorkies 1 male and 1 female. My male is 15 months old 6 lbs and my female is 10 months old 4-1/2-5lbs. I normally give them in the morning when I leave for work a treat. They love the Vitality chicken breast strips. I can only give them one a day or it will mess their tummy up. Last Monday I gave them the one and left for work. My BF come in during the day to do some things and before he had left he had given them 3 more each. One I came home from work there was quite a bit of throw up to clean up. I ask him he informed me he had given them another one and I didn't think much more was just going to watch how the evening went since both babies were acting normal. As the evening went on both continue to throw up. By the next morning I took both to the vet and vet started IV's cause both continued to throw up and now not eating. By the end of day female was a little better male was not. I brought them home since at my vets office no over nite person is at office although you can chose to leave which I would not if no over note person there. Took back dogs back on Wednesday morning to continue IV's since already paid for 24 hours. Female got better, male seem to get worse. Did x-ray on him to check for blockage. X ray didn't really show any continue Wednesday with IV throwing up not as often. Brought home Wednesday evening after vet said a slight improvement. Female got better throughout eve Wednesday, male got worse. Took male back to vet on Thursday to go to plan B, see a specialist. Took male to specialist. Specialist took x-ray of throat and tummy nothing, took ultra sound nothing foreighn. Continued a more intensive IV and change medicine for tummy upset. Keep overnite to continue non-stop fluids and meds. Also has er staff overnite there. Friday seemed better started eating little bits and I brought home. Throw up when got home but was much more alert and glad to see female. I stayed home all day Saturday to watch and observe and him seemed like he was getting back to normal self. Eating boneless chicken and rice per Dr. orders. I went to run errands Sunday when I come home about 5 hours later more throw up again. Started him on Prilosec 1/2 tab of 10mg per dr/vet specialist. He seem okay but not totally his-self. Today feed both dogs and gave sick baby his 1/2 prilosec before leaving. Went home at lunch time to find 1 small throw up. Does anyone have any suggestions. what should I do next. Specialst said the next step would be running a light and scope into tummy to check for foreign object. I can't see doing that if x-ray and ultra sound showed nothing. Specialist did the blood work and said his blood work was fine on Friday vs what he come in at. Said his organs all are normal. I just do not know what to do. SHould I wait a few more days to see if he can start holding food down all day. IS there something else I can fix for him that maybe might be better than the chic and rice? If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear. Thanks |
