I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. It sounds like you are working with a fantastic vet who has Karmen's best interest at heart. If it comes down to making the decision to euthanize or not, then follow your own heart and let her comfort be your guide. To me, it sounds quite positive that she is still active and eating well. Deep wounds are always the hardest and take the longest to heal because they have to heal from the inside out.
Please tell your mom that she's not at fault for this. Things can happen even when you watch them like a hawk. Please keep us updated.
