This is another example why someone should visit the house. People who form a relationship with a breeder over PM's really don't KNOW what that breeder is like. When people are selling things they often pretend to be sweet and kind, they want you to like them. They want you to trust them. The say how they are "involved in rescue" or they only bred one litter. People need to really check out the breeder they are supporting.
I have to add that you say you may want a mentor, are you planning on breeding? Do you want a mentor or a whelping coach? A good breeder will not sell you a dog for breeding until you have proven you have what it takes. If you're really serious about becoming more than a backyard breeder, I'd advise you to slow down, and start attending shows. |
