I would keep him in his bed and just take him out for potty breaks. Make sure he's kept nice and warm. It generally takes a couple days before they get over the anesthesia fully, so he's going to be a bit out of it, especially the first day. Make his diet very bland, like maybe some rice and meat, but feed just a tiny bit at a time to see if he can hold it down. (you can also mix baby food meats and veggies together) I'm sure they will put a cone on him to prevent him from chewing the surgery site, especially when it starts healing since that makes it itch.
