Question

You should really ask about the breeder on here before buying the puppy! It may really save you a lot of heartache or result in you finding out everything is great! I was shocked how useful (I thought it would just be fun) using YT is...if I'd looked up the breeder I got my Elvis from on here...well I'd rather not say I'd not have gotten him, but I'd have at least known they were a noted "bad breeder' If you are having to take an internet pole of what this dog may be, then maybe you are already not trusting what the breeder is telling you? I rarely agree with Debra, anyone who has seen a thread we are both on knows that we feel the same way on most issues and yet disagree on so many others, but I think she's right here, "off colors" would not be a trait an "reputable" breeder would allow in their breeding stock, or a breeder adhering to AKC standards-which Debra listed for you...
LilPuppyLove Dont "ethical" breeders sometimes have surprise colored yorkies, like parti, or gold, or chocolate,
I think most breeders would tell you no, but hmmmmm I beleive the answer is yes, recessive genes are a medical fact...although no an "ethical" breeder wouldn't kill a pup they could just pet out and have a spay neuter contract for-you'd probably see a breeder really into the breed preservation and standards would just give the pup away to a loving family, not kill the pup as was done before historically. They most certainly would not use the pup for breeding as those who are into color mutations and Parti's would...they'd seek out that Parti, Gold or Chocolate pup for their own breeding program-I'd like to think that both types of breeders could be equally deemed ethical and that both would do a little homework to see weather the issue was due to a recessive gene outcropping or weather there was a "contamination" in their line. Then again..depending on who you ask some might tell you there are no such things as a Parti, Gold or Chocolate...that's really a whole can of worms on its own...not sure they do exist other than they are being created now (except Parti's sorry I believe in their historic lineage-oh man Debra don't pounce on that one with me again)...
