When my dtr was younger she got a guinea pig and then didn't pay much attention to him so I got a friend for him, I was told it was a male too. Wrong she had 5 babies a short time later. I didn't want more babies so my vet neutered the male. It was about 90.00. Just in case you have to end up giving the GP up it can be done.
