I see it more like you do; I think a housedog could actually teach him how horrible he really was. The thing of it is, dog fighting is really prevalent in some cultures, it's what they grow up with, and they don't see this the way the rest of us do. Because of the fact that he would be so closely scrutinized, I think it would be safe for the dog as well. There are so many people who have never really experienced the joy of having a pet dog, and don't really understand the canine/human connection, but the only way to really understand it, is to experience it. From my understanding, the dogs he owned before were not really house pets, were they? If he indeed had house pets, then I would probably be against it, although I'm a firm believer that people can change, and do better.
