I just got my puppy on Thanksgiving also.. He's now 18 weeks. The first night he did not cry at all and he was very curious to explore things. I have a bed for him that I will put on top of my bed at night and he slept without any trouble. As for the potty training I couldn't take him outside because it's too cold out here in NY, so I got lots of wee wee pads and at first he was just peeing everywhere. So all the spots he would use the bathroom at I laid out the pads.. And he uses it on top the pads almost all the time.
Once in a while he'll forget and sneak upstairs onto the carpet and use it there. But other then that I have no complaints about his potty training.
I was with him 24/7 for the first week or had my dad who was on vacation with him all the time. My class schedule is at all different times so I was confused about what to do. So The days I had one class I would take him with me and my boyfriend would stay in the car with him until I got back. But there was a couple days I had to leave him alone at home which was so sad because he doesn't like to be left alone. I don't have those puppy pens or gates or anything so I just used full boxes and blocked him of in the kitchen and I laid wee wee pads EVERYWHERE, I put his food/water in there, his bed, & his toys. He cried and cried so much.. and when I left I cried also. I don't like leaving him alone =[... anyways when I was gone he didn't even use the bathroom at all. But when I got back he surely did. I'm sorry I wrote so much..
