Unfortunately, I am like your mom and give my dogs "too many treats."
But - they are stuck with their dog food all day and get treats only in the evening.
I certainly do think that people should respect any dog's owners wishes. If you have rules for your dog, your mother should respect them. I think you should just sit down with her and have a serious heart-to-heart talk. She will probably come around if you stress how important it is to you. Tell her you don't want to critize her - you just have rules for what your dog eats - and it isn't just at your house, but the rules have to apply wherever you go.

PS: I'm like your mother. I have this habit of trying to "feed" everyone and everything that comes to my house. If they won't eat at my house, I resort to sending food home with them. It's a mother thing...a love thing. Can't help it! |
