my vet recommended that the first haircut should be a very quick trim - nothing too radical. The main point of the first visit was to get her used to the sounds of the grooming equipment and the " new" people while making it a positive experience so future visits would be less stressful. We stuck with doing the bottom and the ears, and a little off the eyebrows since t will not be wearing a topknot. And she got more cuddle time than trimming time.
Have your groomer be very detailed and specific about what he or she is going to do, and stick around out of the dog's sight so if the groomer feels a need to change the plan they can ask you first. |
