My miniature schnauzer Princess is the mighty apple hunter-when they started dropping off the trees in the yard she would go mad to get at them eating them core and all (we have little ones though) and she never had an issue. We use Zuke's Mini Naturals for training treats, you can also use plain chicken, fish etc you cook and cut into your own appropriate sizes. My dogs will eat anything that comes from my hand-even zucchini- apples are definitely their favorite but carrots, celery, potatoes, cabbage, romaine, green beans and peas, zucchini, basically all the vegi's we eat except for a lot of leafy greens and no onions or bananas (I see someone else uses them but my dogs missed a potty after having only a small amount of banana and I was worried about them choking after how they ate it-so if others do it I'd just be careful so you don't run into what I did) or anything that can be hard to chew. NO GRAPES OR RAISENS-they are dangerous (toxic) for dogs and don't ever give them seasoned meats.
