You're right...wrapping jackets are about the same as pj's made of satin or silk. I've seen some jackets close at the top of the garment (along the back) instead of underneath at the tummy, also some prefer to use snaps instead of velcro. Most any pajama pattern could be easily modified to make a wrapping jacket. The satin/silk also helps to prevent hair breaking.
