Is this justified that if their breeding stock has never had any health issues there is never a need to run such tests? It just seems that maybe as a precautionary that tests would be performed to make sure?

I personally feel that it is very important to have these tests done on all dogs used for breeding. Not doing these test to me is just not good breeding, whether they show signs of any disease. Yes, there is cost to this but if not done the costs of a sick puppy will be passed to the new owners. Not to mention suffering...

MY QUESTION IS WHY WOULDN'T YOU TEST!!! I can't think of any good excuse and it "wasn't needed" is not one of them. Know that this isn't a 100% guarantee either, as we are dealing with genetics here. But that is when a good breeder will spay and neutering a breeder if they are throwing sick puppies. Please know that this is just my opinion and practice as a breeder...
