Actually green is a silky coat. Reddish color is a cotton. A good silk coat takes longer to grow and is stronger. A cotton grows faster, but breaks easier.
The truer test is the reflection of light off the coat and cool to the touch.
Your 2nd pick reflects light, and could mean the dog has a modified coat. Modified coats grow at a faster rate.
