I don't want to sound rude .....I'm not trying to imply you are in any way similar, but if you don't have strict standards for your adoptions, you can appear to be, and also open yourself up to a crowd that may have been rejected elsewhere by those whom have strict standards, and thus they then seek you out because of a lack of adoption process standards(again adoption application, vet references, personal references, and time spent verifying everything.....not a precious living animal I was responsible for finding a safe, responsible, forever home for. I think there is a mock contract in the breeders section on here you might want to check it out and a few pointers for breeders to get in pre-screening potential adopters, and later the more intensive screening of adopters.
Actually, if you bothered to read the entire thread, you would see I do have certain standards and procedures that are required.
I was merely asking other sellers/breeders about the 'red flags' they've encountered in similar situations. I already have a
questionnaire/adoption form on my website. And, I do have a spay/neuter agreement. When I meet with people in person, I
take the time to get to know their family better. I have rejected adopters for various reasons.
I have not yet shipped any of my puppies, nor have I placed them without first meeting the prospective adopter. I may ship
one day, but it would have to be carefully considered. Because this person seemed to be in such a hurry, (ie: telling ME how
things were going to proceed) it reeked of a scam. Thank you for your observations, but you see...I have all the safeguards
you've mentioned in place. I'm not a push over, or irresponsible when it comes to my animals. My little girl wasn't in danger
of going anywhere.
