Out if curiosity...you are in Ohio...you have raised this dog as a member of your family and now you placed and add and are willing to ship your dog to Florida to a stranger, or were at least considering it? Curious, do you have a spay/neuter contract? No adoption application, references anything? I don't want to sound rude because I was the buyer in a similar situation, and I realize now the red flags from the "breeder" I got my Elvis from in the beginning of the deal and wish I had noticed them before...hindsight right..if I hadn't considered her lack of standards, I was just happy to be getting my dog, well perhaps it was because she really didn't care and just was happy to be getting money? I'm not trying to imply you are in any way similar, but if you don't have strict standards for your adoptions, you can appear to be, and also open yourself up to a crowd that may have been rejected elsewhere by those whom have strict standards, and thus they then seek you out because of a lack of adoption process standards(again adoption application, vet references, personal references, and time spent verifying everything. Scammers are endless and relentless, I ordered a Memory Foam mattress from a wholesaler going out of business for a ridiculously low price, well I ordered the wrong size (I needed and extra long twin instead of a twin) so I listed it on my local craig's list for the same price (including shipping) I bought it for-I expected attention because of the low price-holy cow, the number of scammers that said "we're sending someone "movers" over to get it and either they'd mail them a check to give to me at pick-up. I listed it as a cash only deal...but nevertheless I must have gotten 30 separate scam attempts-wonder if they ever actually show up...that was over a mattress someone would save a couple hundred on...not a precious living animal I was responsible for finding a safe, responsible, forever home for. I think there is a mock contract in the breeders section on here you might want to check it out and a few pointers for breeders to get in pre-screening potential adopters, and later the more intensive screening of adopters.
