Can you take a photo with sunlight coming into the room? That would probably help a lot to reduce the red-eye effect and it also will enhance your photo. I've always used off-camera flash, since the further the flash is from the lense, the less you have red-eye. Bouncing the flash definitely helps also. Sometimes when I don't want to carry my flash I use the onboard flash, but I definitely see a difference. I love natural light photos, but I use flash a lot, even outdoors to reduce shadows. The problem with the red-eye flash setting is the delay. Jackson is so well-behaved, so it's probably not much of a problem, but often a photo is missed because of the delay of red-eye flash. If you use a backdrop, place your subjects a bit of a distance from it. The photos usually come out better that way. If there are any wrinkles in the backdrop, having it further away will also reduce the amount that you see them. |
