Default 4 1/2 year old yorkie, thinking about getting him a friend!

I've been seriously debating finding my little guy a friend. I've thought about this for a few reasons. First, sometimes I feel terrible for working 8 hours during the day and him being home alone the entire time. He is very affectionate, and sleeps with me at night(nestled against my side). He loves attention, and will frequently interupt me(on the computer, watching tv, laying down) just for attention, and I think this is because he is alone so much.

Now, i'm VERY concerned and this has hindered me to the point of forgetting about it all together at times that he will NOT do well with an addition to the family. Duke is a very affectionate dog, and I'm concerned that an addition will lead to problems, i see duke as being very much the older brother that gets jealous.

I have had my dog for 4 1/2 years, since he was a puppy, and he has been the only animal i've lived with the entire time.

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with this type of scenario?
