WOW...I came across this thread accidently but am I glad to have found it ! My 8 yr old Yorkie is terrified of anything in a metal food dish. She will only eat off a saucer. She will not drink water out of the water feeder I have and I must give her a separate dish of water in a little pyrex type dish. Oh, and it cannot be placed on the floor in front of the dishwasher as she sees her reflection in the black glass front....sigh
And all the while I am thinking she has lost her mind totally...so glad to see she is not alone...lololol
