Does he seem healthy? Is he eating well? Having any problems? Are you planning to breed him
If he's acting ok and you don't plan to breed him, no a BAT isn't absolutely necessary. It would just offer you a little reassurance that he's healthy right now. Mine have never shown any signs of serious illness so none have ever been BAT tested (my oldest is 15 years old). Oh, and I also feed Acana - great food! Why would you want to switch if he's doing well on it?
If you're concerned about possible liver shunt though, you could go ahead and have the test done just for peace of mind.
Also, he may still be a little too young for a valid test result. I think they recommend puppies be at least 20 weeks old before having a BAT run on them.
