Default Doggy Congestion/Respiratory infection?

Since Monday, Jackson has had these moments of "hacking". It's almost like he's congested. He had kennel cough before and I know it's not kennel cough... it's hard to explain. But it's something he's never had before. I know some dogs can make that "oinking" type noise when they're over-excited.

But this is not normal for Jackson. It's literally like his chest is congested like a human... he's laying down in the bed with me right now and he's snoring! He never snores EVER. So he's obviously having some difficulties breathing. It acts up when he's running outside, or stuck his head out the car window, or gets really excited.

I dog-sit for a Rottweiler and oddly enough, he has the same thing. He went to the vet yesterday and was put on antibiotics as the vet thinks he has a respiratory infection? Do you think even though Jackson has not been around him in 2 weeks that I could have brought something home with me?

I have a vet appt. scheduled for Friday morning. But just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem. Pretty certain it's not kennel cough or anything like collapsed trachea. It's basically like, well, like he has congestion.
