Merry CHRISTMAS -- or Happy Holidays? It's annoyed me that every year seems to get worse with trying to be all politically correct and people not saying Merry Christmas.
I don't particularly mind Happy Holidays but I think it's really dumb for people to get all up in arms about it. If it comes up, I will say Merry Christmas to someone, not Happy Holidays and I've never had anybody dispute it. I'm not trying to be offensive or small-minded believing everyone are Christians or anything.
But seriously, most of America celebrates Christmas. It's just how it is and how it always has been. I believe, like, 86% of Americans are Christian and I'm no major religious person who attends church every Sunday or anything but I do enjoy and celebrate Christmas time and I don't feel like I should have to cater to the few who don't.
If someone told me Happy Hanukkah, I wouldn't care, and I'd just say same to you, or thank you, or whatever, and move about my way. I also know a few Jewish people (well, only 2) who could care less. They sing along with Christmas music as much as we do.
We have this Lights Parade here and have every year since I've been born at least, where you drive through and look at the pretty Christmas lights, etc, and no longer is there allowed to be anything about Jesus or God and (like I said, I'm not even a 'religious' person) but I find that dumb considering it IS his birthday celebration and all. It's turned into so much of a secular holiday anyways. To me Christmas is a time for family and a time for giving.
Basically, I just find it annoying how everything has to be so politically correct. And I wish people could just ignore or get over it, LOL.
Sorry, rant for the day! This is not meant to be a religious thread... just basically saying Merry Christmas vs. Happy Holidays. |
