Very sorry about Desi. You bring up such a great point on car safety for our dogs and cats. For travelling in the car, I like the solid type of crate, not the wire crate for Yorkies.

One of the things you can do, is make up a placard that is permanently attached to your car crates, which list, the Vet name and number, any medications your Yorkie is on, emergency contact number if different from the vet's, a copy of your pet insurance plan if you have one. Particularly note if your dog is allergic to anything. Your dog's name and age.

For our large breed dogs, we have another note; DO NOT OPEN CRATE! We also show their weight and height on crate; as well as their |OUT" or STOP command. Their collars are attached to their crates as well as leashes.

Also give a thought to when you are travelling with both large and small crates, how you will organize your space to provide safety for all passengers.

Also food for some thought many in fact the majority of accidents occur within a 20 mile radius of your home. A quick to the store with your favourite pooch uncrated can end in disaster.
