"He had been disoriented and confused during the rain on Sunday night and could not find his way home," Adams said.
Mefford, an Orange resident who suffers from mild dementia, was last seen when his daughter dropped him off at his home on East Heim Avenue after the two had breakfast together about 10 a.m. on Sunday, Adams said.
By 4 p.m., Mefford, Donny and his 2000 blue Chevy Impala were gone.
Family members and police searched the immediate area but were unable to locate him. Due to his medical condition, Mefford's family was concerned for his welfare, Adams said.
