I also notied you say he weighed 2.8 pounds at his 8 week check up. How early did you get this little guy? He should really be with mom & siblings until at least 12 weeks. Another month with mom & kids can do a world of good to their future temperment, social skills, and wellbeing.

You had been guessing the weight based on the parents. I used to think the same -- but it has more to do with all of the weight picture -- mom, dad, other puppies in previous litters, grandparents on both sides.

Good breeders do not let their puppies go at 8 weeks and they are careful to consider the entire history of their dogs before breeding. Then you don't usually get surprises in size and other traits.

I also just noticed this was your first post -- I am sorry your first post sort of went awry. You will find this a great place to learn about the Yorkie breed, their special health and safety challenges, as well as share the joy of yorkie ownership! I know I threw some unexpected things in the mix when you posted about your baby's size -- rest assured you are still very much welcomed here! I just want to encourage you to look beyond the size issue and love your little guy as he is. There is probably no worry --my experience is that a yorkie puppy can win anyone over, no matter what size or shape.
