OK, Im still a bit confused. CaptainJack is my first Yorkie. The weight issue has always been about health, not looks for me. He is my companion, BFF, and I could not love him more. At 12 weeks, he weighed 2.5 lbs. If you double that it is 5 lbs which is what the first vet said he should not be more than. However, I admit, I was allowing him to eat people food and even tastes of icecream for awhile. My vet of 4 years now was concerned about this weight based on how he looked and felt and had me stop the people food snacks except for lean chicken. He had peacked at 8 lbs...He is now 7.2 and she says he looks and is healthy. I still feel I nice tummy so with more exercise, which I started today for him and for me, I think he may lose a little more. So, would you all say I am on the right track. Again he will 5 next April. Oh, I have cats and he gets a workout with them each evening running and chasing in the house and in my yard. I only want to do what is right for him but have been concerned about the weight issue mainly because of the first vets prediction.
