Just as a note...Sammi's breeder was USDA registered as well..And when I first found that out last year I got very upset because RIGHT AWAY I assumed Sammi was from a mill (not that it made any difference, becuase I would love her regardless) so I had Kim from Nopuppymills.com check for me last year...then again this year...Her report to me is below...

Yorkie puppy purchased March 2004. No problems noted. Owner is concerned because she found the breeder on a list of licensed breeders by USDA and believes the breeder is 'bad.' USDA is required by law to license and inspect any breeder with more than 3 female breeding dogs, that is selling the puppies from those dogs to "wholesale" places, such as brokers and petshops. While many people believe that a breeder should take responsibility for the puppies they breed, and sell them themselves to ensure the puppies are going to good homes, it still does not mean that a USDA breeder is abusing or neglecting their dogs.

Please see the comments below, but also understand that I have never seen this breeder's facility so I can't say for sure how she treats her dogs. Also, My reports are a little outdated now and I have no idea how many dogs she might have now. Lastly, please know this is the EXCEPTION, not the rule. Most puppies come from facilities with an average of 100 breeding dogs, and over 50% of those facilities have violations listed by USDA. Even those that do not have violations, may be only meeting the 'minimum standards' set by USDA, which treats dogs like livestock, not like companion animals.

Yorkie puppy purchased March 2004. Puppy reported healthy. I show no violations at all on this breeder and show in 1999 she had only 9 adult breeding dogs. This is a very rare thing to find in commercial breeders and I can only hope I see more and more like them!
