Winston2010 gave great advice: limit your pup's freedom to one area, supervise, and praise profusely when he goes potty on the pad. Never stop praising, and giving small treats helps too.
You should be able to skip the newspaper. When your little guy sees how happy you are that he went on the pad, it will click.
I would advise against yelling when you catch him going in the wrong place. A quick no is sufficient and then do as you have been taking him to the pad and using keywords and phrases indicating that it is the correct place to potty. He won't have to pee again immediately, but the act is good reinforcement. |
