The vet finally convinced me to start her on Proin and it has truly been a lifesaver. Within a few days it started working and has continued to work since then.

If you need to continue using belly bands look at this site: Washable and reusable dog and puppy pee pads, belly bands, and diapers at T. Bumpkins & Co.

Cathy makes washable liners for the belly bands, this way you can have a stack of them to alternate between and not have to wash the entire belly band every time. She is member 107barney here if you want to contact her.
As a younger dog, Daisy had a period of incontinence and we too started her on Proin. It worked immediately and she was on it for a little while - maybe about 6 mos or so. We then took her off of it and she never had a problem again. That was about 7 or 8 years ago. In Daisy's case, Proin was only needed short term.

I often tell customers about Proin if they call with questions or have dogs completely incontinent. My diapers with the washable inserts (Bumpkins Barriers named after my dog and company namesake Teddy Bumpkins) are useful for dogs in heat, dogs who are housebroken but who have occasional problems (for example, visiting grandma's house), etc. I think for totally incontinence my diapers work with disposable Poise pads or in special circumstances and upon request I will customize a garment depending on whether I think I can help.

But I second the use of Proin as something to discuss with your vet. It truly worked wonders for Daisy - she was letting her bladder go during naps and even with water restriction after a certain time at night, she was constantly soaked. As I said, it resolved and she has access to water 24 hours a day and this has not been a problem in many many years.

Good Luck!
