Princess= well the broom-which has never done anything to her-she has NEVER been teased with it- yet she will drag it out from beside the refrigerator and attempt to kill it, eat it and drag it some more to ensure it's not going to sweep anything...ever again.
Elvis is generally a super social dog with other dogs; however, he has some serious issue with a neighbors giant poodle-as soon as I hear Elvis in the dining window freaking out growling and barking I know the neighbor is going by for her morning walk with her dog and has stopped at the mail box (just out our front yard). He's yet to meet the dog without a pane of glass between them and I'm not sure I would want them too considering his strong reaction-again he is super friendly with other dogs and enjoys playing with the other neighborhood dogs-both small, and extra large. |
I forgot! Scoobers my rescue Schnorkie (dumped outside of a pound in the middle of the night with another designer breed a pom-chi I believe-both microchipped to a "breeder") is terrified to this day of blond women who speak Spanish. About a month after I got him I started working on socialization so we started meeting all the neighbors outside and he acted strangely around the children whom spoke Spanish primarily- one of their aunties had blond hair she was the only one he actually hid from and growled at. So we tested it on another neighbor family the grandmother came out first (she has grey hair) he was okay with her, the kids all had dark hair, the sister again brown hair he was mildly leery when the mother came out whom has blond hair and began to speak to him in Spanish he hid behind me and growled at her...I'm guessing he had a really horrid experience with s woman who had blond hair and spoke Spanish...I emailed the adoptions coordinator about the issue not sure what came of it. Since I have socialized him a bit more extensively with people whom speak Spanish-spoke to him in Spanish myself and had my blond friends speak to him to this day he is semi still leery but exhibits a minimal reaction after the "training" which took a bit with this. Just thought I'd also note this and how dramatic it seemed he had such an imprinted specific reaction to something "familiar" or traumatic to him in his past I'd have no idea of verifying other than in his reaction. Amazing how even an animal whom has overcome so much and progressed so far can still carry a bit of imprinted memory of something and someone.
