 Lily is a lucky girl....
I feel so stupid....I should know better. Today I put a little barrette in Lily's hair rather than a band to keep her hair out of her face. Not even an hour later I realized that it was not in her hair. I looked everywhere..We didn't go outside so I know that it had to be in the house or worst case scenario in her tummy. I went with my instinct and with the vet only open for 15 more minutes..I called and they waited for us. The vet did an XRay and sure enough there it was. She gave her Apomorphine drops and induced vomiting. She was confident that it would be ok since there seemed to be enough food in her stomach that bringing up the barrette wouldn't do any damage. Thank goodness I didn't wait or else it could have been in her intestine and not so easy to fix.
She and I are both lucky....a very expensive mistake! |
