I closely watched the next time he went and he was fine? My vet recommendd me to just feed canned pumkin but I don't because it only happens once in awhile. I'm also curious on what's causing this, when my other puppy is totally fine and goes fast. |
That's pretty much what Chelsea and I had to do. I had to remove what she'd managed to get out on her own and then help her with the rest of it. Poor baby, I don't know how long she'd been like that before I got home from work.

That's why I don't feed pumpkin regularly, either. Their stools are usually firm and healthy and I see no reason to mess around with that.
I didn't think about using a stool softener. In this case, I don't think it would've helped since the stool was too far along and already stuck in her rectum. That kitty you petsit for sounds like he must have awesome parents who really love him! That's amazing.
This only happens a few times a year between all my pups combined, so it doesn't happen often at all. Because of that, I hate to add supplements or other things to their diet just yet. I am going to make a mental note to ask the vet about it and see what he suggests. I just hate thinking of how long Chelsea was suffering before I got off work yesterday.
