I'm so sorry.
I lost two beloved dogs over the summer in very much the same way. It took quite some time for me to be able to think of them and smile but eventually it happened. I don't even know WHEN it happened. I still miss my babies dearly and sometimes still cry out of the blue.. but I can finally remember the good times and smile.
Don't rush it. Mourn the loss of your baby. Speak of him often. I promise that one day you WILL think of Reese and the horror of his death will slowly but surely be replaced with fond, loving memories.
I'm praying that until then you will find comfort in your family and your other pets. Rest in peace sweet baby.
