I think you can be pretty confident in the link I gave you. The YTCA is the mother club, and they would be considered the "experts" on the Yorkshire Terrier in this country. I haven't read it lately, but I think there was a Yorkie who won Best in Show in the 1930's. Perhaps they link you gave means that when Yorkies became super popular in this country. I remember years ago, the poodle was the most popular dog, and maybe in the 1970's the Yorkie became one of the most popular.
