We use K9 and have for over a year now and with success too. Our vet said to never give up on the flea stuff cause here in SoCal, it's never cold enough for the buggers to die, use it all year around, or some thing. I called the 800# on the box, the cust. service lady said that the stuff was "set" in 2-3 hrs, BUT not to give them a bath for 24 hrs cause that washes off the protection. SOOO for 3 hrs Sprocket wears the onsie and hates it on the day before its bath time. Once a month. Then next day, bath time, pretty baby, he thinks he's so special after all the grooming etc. I must admit, I like a "fresh" smelling dog too. And the playing too much fun.
