Oh yes I think most breeders have experienced "fading puppy syndrom" at one time or another. It can sometimes be caused by e-coli infection in the intestinal track. Or inhaling food/milk into the lungs which also creates a bacterial infection. If you put the puppy on antibotics at the first sign of illness sometimes you can save him. Clavamox or Amoxi are the antibotics my vet prescribes for my puppies. It's a hit or miss situation. The only sure way to give the correct antibotic is to do a throat culture to determine the exact organism causing the problem.
