My Neo is definely a runner, so DH had a chain link fence put up in the back yard last spring. Connor has not (as of yet) had the chance to make a break for it. I think about buying one of those training leads that are extremely long, so the dog thinks it is running loose, but you actually have control over it. That is probably the best of both worlds for our little runners.
