I do love the brown color, and my co-worker got the black color, the brown is a great chocolate color and I have not noticed any fading what-so-ever (but I've only had it for 1+ ish months) I love it because it uses the Kindles energy to power the lamp, but the battery lasts so long that using it doesn't drain it too quickly. I read mostly at night in bed and recharge the battery about once a week; that's using the light attachment every night because I don't have a lamp on my nightstand, and once I get settled into bed I don't feel like getting up to turn off the overhead light
