I like that it supports different formats.
On the cruise, some friends we made wanted to give us their e-mail addresses, of course none of us had paper and pen handy. But I was able to put them in my Sony Reader.
I have also used it in the kitchen
Transferred a recipe from the computer to the Reader instead of printing it out (saves paper), and then was able to use the recipe in the kitchen.
