Before I begin, let me first make it clear that I have a vet appointment at 5pm today. I'm just looking for reassurance until that time.
Yesterday my husband accidentally stepped on Lulu's rear right leg when taking her out to potty. He said she yelped, he picked her up & checked her over & then put her back down and she proceeded to run and play like normal. We didn't think any more of it. She was normal the rest of the day. Fast forward to this morning...I am holding Lulu in my arms when I feel a pop in her leg (similar to what it feels like when our knuckles pop). Lulu didn't cry or act hurt. I held her a few mins longer & then put her on the floor and she appeared fine. A few mins later I placed her on the couch with me as she was ready for her morning nap beside me. She was moving around getting comfy & I heard a pop. I looked over, picked her up & she held her leg up for a brief second as if it were hurt. I cuddled her & then placed her on the floor to see if she could walk. She did & didn't hold her leg up at all. Since then, she favors the leg ever so often but continues to run and play like normal. I am trying very hard to have her rest her leg but we all know how hard that is.
So, I'm concerned that Lulu might have luxating patella. She has never had a problem before. Her last vet check was about 3 months ago & her knees were checked and were perfect. I've been reading everything I can about LP. I've done a search here & have read EVERY post that came up. Literally! I know most seem to think LP is hereditary, but I did see some that mention some LP can be caused by trauma. I don't really have a question I guess. I just need some support. I am an absolute nervous wreck about this!
In case anyone is wondering, here's Lulu's stats. 7.5 months old & 3lbs 6 oz.
