I am not sure it ever gets easier. I lost my two older Yorkies within 6 weeks of each other this summer/fall, one from a big dog attack (broke her neck) and I swear her best friend Jasper died of a broken heart. They were 11 and 12, and loved each other dearly.

I feel your heartache, and I can tell you the only thing that lessened the pain for me was getting my Wosie girl. She is the light of my life. But don't do it unless you really want to. Another dog won't ever replace your sweet Toto, but it may lighten your heart a bit.
