We haven't had any issues with the floor (carpet) or furniture, we don't put it on heavily.... just enough to coat the pads of their feet. Occasionally we will wipe their paws off with a towel.... but basically it is to remove any salt and dry their paws. It does recommend to wipe with a dry towel. So if you worry about it hurting flooring, it don't take but a minute. It conditions the pads of their feet nicely, too. I like giving them paw massages with it.
