I think you should get another dog. When we put Guru to sleep this past summer, we brought Alex home that same week so that Vinnie would not be alone. While he definitely felt the loss of Guru, he seemed to like the company Alex provided. Several months later and they actually seem very close.

I always think that when one dog passes, you should immediately adopt another one. There are so many dogs out there who need good homes, so if you can provide one, why not?
