You have not waited long enough! You cannot accomplish this with one meal! Yes, he is going to walk away and do just what he always does to get you to hand feed him. He has you trained!
I have never had a pup starve himself to death.
Certainly keep an eye on him so that he does not get hypoglycemic, but I seriously don't think it will happen.
