I use a dog nail file device called PediPaw. It is battery-operated and spins a nail file, so you just have to put the dog's nail into the PediPaw and it will get filed instead of having to cut the nails. Neither of my dogs seem to mind that. My yorkies have never had a bad experience with nail clippings, but they HATE getting their nails clipped, so I just use my PediPaw (you should be able to find it by googling PediPaw). A regular file is not nearly as easy as using the PediPaw, but that could work too. Good luck!
